The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, has been honoured with the Exemplary Business Leadership of the Year in Education Award at the National Governance and Business Leadership Awards 2024, held on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

This prestigious award recognizes Prof. Afoakwa’s significant contributions towards transforming ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍøinto a world-class Technology University, known as Ghana’s Silicon Valley.

Prof. Afoakwa’s award is a testament to his growing recognition and influence within the education landscape, demonstrating his transformational leadership in Ghana. Over the past year, he has received several accolades, reflecting his dedication to excellence and innovation in education.

In addition to Prof. Afoakwa’s personal achievement, ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍøwas also honoured with the Innovation in Technology Education Award.

This accolade celebrates the University’s commitment to advancing technology education and its dedication to fostering an environment of innovation and excellence.

Remarkably, the ceremony also recognized the accomplishments of Prof. Afoakwa’s wife, Mrs. Ellen Ohene Afoakwa. She was awarded the Woman of Impact in Finance and Leadership Award 2024 for her exceptional contributions to banking and finance as the Managing Director/Managing Principal of Corporate and Investment Banking at ABSA Bank Ghana Ltd.

The ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍøteam present at the ceremony included the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Robert Ebo Hinson; the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo; the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Michael Nana Owusu-Akomeah; the Director of Strategic Business, Mrs. Araba Akanji; the Head of International Graduate Programmes, Dr. Gertrude Amoakohene and the Executive Assistant and Head of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat, Mr. Eric Nana Kojo Appah.

The VC took to Facebook after the event to express his gratitude. He said, “We are indeed grateful to God for all these achievements and accomplishments through His blessings and the growth of GCTU. God bless us all and make us great!”
